Five for Fraturday: April 2

1. Math Bulletin Board: Decomposing Numbers

This one has been up for a while but it is one of my favourite math boards this year.

I was happy to be able to represent the success criteria and our connected learning with lots of pictures!

I took this board down at the beginning of the week and our new learning about addition and subtraction will be going here next.  Stay tuned for that ;)

2. Skip Counting Lacing Plates

I saw these lacing plates on 123 Homeschool 4 Me and loved that it combined skip-counting with fine motor practice! I do suggest using plastic plates though, since these paper plates didn't hold up for too many days!  I made them for skip-counting by 10's and 5's since those are the skills we have been working on! 

3. Play Dough Addition

We have started learning about subtraction whole group but I always spiral and have them practice a variety of skills during centres.  My kids love anything with play dough so I made these play dough addition mats.  The kids roll 2 dice, show each dice with different coloured play dough balls and show the corresponding addition sentence with magnets or dry erase markers at the bottom.

4. Bunny Sight Word Flip & Trace - Ver. 2

This one might look familiar since I blogged about the same activity but with Easter egg foam cut outs last week.  You can see that post by clicking here.

That centre was such a huge hit that I made another one with new sight words! This time after they flipped the bunny and read the word I had them trace the word in the colour that matched the bunny.  This one was a popular centre again this week!

5. My Little Stamping Book of (Teen) Numbers

Do you remember the stamps I picked up at Dollarama I used for my Stamp a Pattern centre last week?  Well the kids love them so much so I decided to make a couple more activities for them!  This one is a booklet where they read the number and put that many stamps on the ten-frame.

There is a 1-10 version and a 11-20 version so that you could easily differentiate based on your student's needs.  I quickly looked in my assessment binder and wrote down the names for kids who needed a 1-10 booklet and for kids who needed a 11-20 booklet on 2 separate post it notes.  

Then I photocopied and put the post-it notes on top of each pile so that my classroom volunteer or ECE would know exactly who to call and which booklet they would need. The kids have been working hard to complete these booklets during guided math with either my ECE or our classroom volunteers (who I'm so lucky to have!!).
